As soon as – No sooner…..than and Hardly….When
एका पाठोपाठ घडणा-या घटनांमध्ये काही क्षणाचेच अंतर असेल तर त्याचा उल्लेख
APUURID As soon as – No sooner than/Hardly…….when we are
करतात.
Ex. 1) As soon as the teacher entered, all the students got up
from their seats.
2) No sooner did the teacher enter than all the students got
up from their seats.
3) Hardly had the teacher entered when all the students got
up from their seats.

As soon as ऐवजी no sooner चा वापर करावा.
त्यानंतर त्या पहिल्यचा वाक्यतील सहाय्यकारी क्रियापद घ्यावे जर नसेल तर मूळ
क्रियापदाच्या काळानुसार (do,does,did) चा वापर करावा.
नंतर वाक्यांशातील कर्ता घेऊन मुळ क्रियापद घ्यावे. गरजेनुसार मुळ रूप घ्यावे.
दोन्ही clause जोडताना than चा वापर करून clause जसेच्या तसे लिहावे.
1) As soon as the race started, we were looking for Snehal.
Ans: No sooner did the race start than we ere looking for
Snehal.
2) As soon as Harish reaches the platform, the train laves.
Ans: No sooner does Harish reach the platform than the train
leaves.
3) As soon as the chutey is ready than the mixer will be
switched off
Ans: No sooner is the chutney ready than the mixer wil be
switched off
As soon as – No sooner…..than and Hardly….When.

1) As soon as the police inspector was near the house, the
thief ran away
Ans: No sooner was the police inspector near the house than
the thief ran away.
2) Maya is quick and careful enough to stop it as soon as it
reaches the right figure.
Ans: No sooner does it reach the right figure than Maya is
quick and careful enough to stop it.
3) As soon as we had gone some distance, we saw a juggler
with his monkey.
Ans: No sooner had we gone some distance than we saw a
juggler with his monkey.
4) As soon as train whistled, the passngers entered the
compratment
Ans: no sonner did the train whistle than the passengers
entered the compartment.
5) We had reached the top of the hill. It started raining.
Ans: No sooner had we reached the top of the hill than it started
raining
6) As soon as the fats collect on the surface, they form a layer.
Ans: No sooner do the fats collect on the surface than they
form a layer.

वाक्यात Hardly……when चा वापर करताना
वाक्यात As soon as/ No sooner अव्यय नसल्यास, ज्या वाक्याची क्रिया
अगोदर घडली त्या वाक्याच्या सुरूवातीस Hardly वापरावे.

पुर्ण वर्तमान काळात (have/has) तर भुतकाळात (had) चा वापर करावा व नंतर
कर्ता लिहावा.
कर्त्यांनंतर क्रियापदाचे तिसरे रूप लिहावे.
पहिला clause संपल्यानंतर when चा वापर करून दुसरा clluase जसाच्या
तसा लिहावा.

2. Mahesh entered the office. He saw a small toy.
Ans: Hardly had Mahesh entered the office when he saw a

Ans: Hardly had the sun risen when the birds began chipring.
Exercise:
1) We had reached the house, the phone started rining.
Ans: Hardly had we reached the hosue when the phone started
ringing
2) As soon as they landed, they hoisted the Indian national

Ans: Hardly had they landed, when they hoisted the Indian
national tricolour.
3) Sonali had entered room. It started fighting.
Ans: Hardly had Sonali entered the room when it started
fighting
